Big Island Beautiful

Location: Kealakekua Bay Marine Life Conservation District

The islands of Hawai’i are beautiful.  I think it’s pretty safe to say that everyone knows that.  However, no matter how long I’ve been on the islands (30 days at the time these photos were taken….i know!!) the views still amaze me.  Epic is the only way I can describe it.  Literally, takes your breath away.  I wonder if the feeling fades over time.  Do the locals still stop in their tracks whenever they turn a corner and see this?

The one thing that differentiates the Big Island from all the others, to me, is the lava!  This island is the youngest in the chain and the only one that is actually growing.  All thanks to the world’s most active volcano: Kilauea volcano!  It has been erupting since January 3rd 1983! That’s longer than I’ve been alive!! There are other volcanoes on the island, long extinct however their presence has marked the countryside by black lava rocks and uniquely coloured beaches.  You can see the volcanic rocks in all the photos below.

Wish you were here!
Here’s a little glimpse of paradise!  Just play on repeat and it’ll be like you’re right there with me!
